After talking about it for a year, and seriously looking for the last 2 months, we finally got a puppy!
We thought, since we have a house we should have a dog too! Haha ;-)
We started looking right after Christmas for the perfect puppy. We did a ton of research on different breeds and what would fit our lifestyle the best. We needed a dog with a low to non-shedding coat because I am allergic to dogs and needed to find one that didn’t shed. And we wanted a friendly happy dog that would eventually transition well with kids as we grow our family. We wanted one with medium to high energy but could also be chill and hang when we were just chilling at home.
We landed our eyes on a goldendoodle and haven’t looked back. These dogs fit our profile and what we wanted perfectly! I mean, who wouldn’t want an adorable fluffy dog that barely sheds any hair, right? So whoever thought of putting a Golden Retriever and a Poodle together was a genius. We couldn’t be more happy with the investment we made in our family.
Little Everest Oak was born November 2nd, 2013 (same day as Derek!) in Gainesville, Texas with a wonderful breeder that specializes in Goldendoodles & Labradoodles.
Well, Derek and I have been playing around with all the possibilities for the last several weeks. We landed on Everest because it’s a dream of Derek’s to some day travel to the base camp of Mt. Everest and maybe even climb it. Derek also likes to daydream about living in a cabin in the mountains somewhere, so Everest it is. His middle name is Oak and we chose that due to my everlasting love for God’s creation and Trees. Thus gives us Everest Oak Harvey. We are proud owners of this little dude and can’t wait for you to meet him. He is still learning as he adapts to his new environment and family. We find his companionship so refreshing and now understand why people consider dogs a part of the family, because they are!
We found out that Everest likes to play, chew on my hair and is very scared of the lemon spray I used to wipe the table. He also has unbearably bad gas.
Below are some photos I’ve taken of our first few interactions with him.
Love, The Harveys
