After saving for 2 years for a down payment, 8 months of community living and 2 months of serious house hunting it's landed us in a house that we never dreamed of for our first home!
Originally we wanted to buy an older home with character, something so unique about the idea. Make some improvements as time goes by. That made me excited about owning our own home! When you move every year for the last 4 years, you begin to never truly "settle" or create a home. So, after we got the down payment saved we then began the search.
After looking at several homes we put an offer on one, and thought this is "the house". They ended up taking another offer and we were left heartbroken. No one ever tells you how hard it is to find a house. You can get so attached, and then it's gone.
After going through this again with another house, we got very discouraged.
God reminded me of his word that says, "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."
I was reminded of Gods faithfulness.
It was painful saving up a big downpayment, and it was painful loosing those houses. In the mix of all of this, Derek and I found out we were going to be parents and then at 7 weeks we lost the baby. This was the icing on the cake for us. We surrendered to God for we were weak and weary. We give God the glory even after all that we have been through because it's made us stronger and we know He has a bigger plan.
So, after having so much disappointment in a few short weeks we had yet another discouraging day house hunting. So back to the drawing board...
A new home as an option?
Derek and I were both not crazy about the idea, as in newer neighborhoods you don't have the old mature trees and the "feel" we both grew to love about The Woodlands and surrounding older neighborhoods. But we decided to try and see, our realtor, Ryan Bokros recommend we look at D.R. Horton Homes.
They have several neighborhoods that they're still developing in the surrounding areas so we looked at a few options and landed in one in west Conroe to go visit.
Right before all of the new home talk, I had a moment with the Lord asking him to just SHOW us our house. I was so stressed about location and where we should live, looking at homes ALL over the map and not really having an clarity on where.
And God delivered, above and beyond any of our expectations!
He showed us the house and we couldn't have been more excited to see this season come to an end. We are looking forward to our new home and all the memories we're going to create there with all of our loved ones!
We officially close and move in on December 20th. So keep us in your prayers as we prepare and move. And in NINE DAYS, this house will be ours!!!! We are so overwhelmed and so excited to have our first home! We'll update again soon with how things are going in the new home!
Love, The Harveys
